Robinhood Chain got 25 times cheaper. Almost nobody left.

Fee income on the two-month-old network fell 97% in three weeks while transaction counts slipped less than a third — a gap that points to relief, not abandonment.

Why it mattersThe story establishes that Robinhood Chain's collapse in fee income reflects a price correction after a memecoin-driven spike rather than users or applications abandoning the network.

It now costs about 2.6 cents to send a transaction on Robinhood Chain. Three weeks ago it cost 64 cents. Over that stretch the network's daily fee income fell 97%, to roughly $230,000 on Sept. 16 from something near $8 million at the peak in early September.

The number of transactions barely moved by comparison. Activity fell 32% over the same period, to 8.9 million a day from 13.1 million. A network losing 97% of its revenue while keeping more than two thirds of its traffic is not being abandoned. It is being repriced.

That distinction is the whole story here, and it is easy to miss from the fee chart alone. Robinhood Chain spent late August as one of the most expensive places in crypto to transact, a consequence of a memecoin rush that at its height had applications on the chain earning $2.7 million in a single day — twice what Ethereum's applications took, and behind only Solana. Roughly $2 million of that came from two places: the token launchpad Pons and the trading app GMGN, on a day when users created 22,600 new tokens.

The obvious theory is that the cost drove traders somewhere else, and Solana is the natural somewhere. The weekly numbers do not support it. Decentralized exchanges on Robinhood Chain handled about $13 billion in the seven days to Sept. 16, up 5% on the week before, according to CoinDesk's reading of DeFiLlama data. Stablecoin supply on the chain fell 1%, to around $1 billion, with roughly $930 million of it still sitting inside applications rather than waiting to leave.

Solana, meanwhile, was not filling up. Its exchanges processed about $17 billion over Sept. 10-16, down 8% week on week, and PumpSwap — the venue attached to the launchpad Pump.fun — fell 36%, almost exactly matching the 37% decline at Pons. Both ends of the supposed migration got quieter at the same rate, which is what a cooling speculative cycle looks like rather than a move.

Some money did move

Bridge flows show a real but small drift. The cross-chain platform deBridge moved $8.2 million from Robinhood Chain to Solana during Sept. 10-16 against just over $6 million coming back, a net outflow near $2 million. The previous week had been almost perfectly even, at $13.4 million out and $13.3 million in. Transfer counts actually ran the other way, with about 5,000 orders heading from Solana to Robinhood Chain against 3,800 going out.

What has not changed is where the economics sit. Applications built on Robinhood Chain collected around $8 million in fees over one recent 24-hour stretch and kept $1.5 million of it as revenue, per DeFiLlama. The chain underneath them took $230,000. Pons alone still books something near $830,000 a day, down from a peak but hardly extinguished, and directs 80% of that revenue into buying and burning its own token — about $4.6 million at last week's rate.

Strip out the extreme days and the shape is the same. In the seven days to Sept. 4 the chain averaged 11.5 million transactions and about $4 million in daily fees. In the seven days to Sept. 16 it averaged 10.8 million transactions and $641,000. The traffic held. The tolls collapsed.
