Trueo to Leave Base for Ethereum Mainnet, Citing Integration Reach

The prediction market, live on Base since March 2025, says its next oracle will need broader integration than an L2 ecosystem allows.

Why it mattersThe oracle decides which side of a trade pays, so if users disagree with how it resolves a market, the venue loses the credibility it needs to keep trading volume around.

Trueo, a prediction market platform that went live on Base in March 2025, will move to Ethereum mainnet, the project said in posts on X. Its stated priorities after the migration are drawing liquidity and shipping the next generation of its oracle — the system that checks real-world outcomes and settles prediction markets against them.

The team framed the move as a response to how much room an app has to integrate with everything else. On Base, integrations stay inside that ecosystem. On Ethereum, Trueo said it sees more room to connect with the wider market and more product upside.

“Ethereum is the best chain for the most credibly neutral and truthful oracle system and prediction markets,” co-founder Lumberg said on X, using a pseudonym.

The project also described its own trajectory. Base suited an app that was still experimental and launching when mainnet gas costs were still high, Trueo said, but its intended final state points elsewhere: widely adopted, broadly integrated, fully permissionless, mostly immutable and highly credible. The team said Ethereum fits that combination best.

Where Trueo sits in the prediction market field

Trueo is the 14th-largest onchain prediction market by total value locked, with $795,687, according to DefiLlama. That figure is the capital deposited in the protocol's contracts, and it puts Trueo well below the category's leaders.

Its oracle redesign is not a small piece of engineering. In a prediction market, the oracle decides what actually happened — an election outcome, a price threshold, a sports result — and that determination decides which side of a trade pays. If users disagree with how the oracle resolves a market, the venue loses the credibility it needs to keep trading volume around.

That makes the choice of settlement layer more than a hosting decision. An oracle's claim to neutrality rests partly on where its data and records live and who can alter them; Ethereum mainnet carries higher fees than an L2 but also carries the security and neutrality assumptions that most of the industry anchors to.

Migration plans do not guarantee liquidity follows. A venue that moves chains can lose users who keep funds where trading is cheaper, and Trueo has not given a date for the switch or said whether Base markets will wind down first. What it has committed to publicly is the sequence: liquidity, then the new oracle.
