Chainpress indices
Four market-capitalisation measures of the digital-asset market, updated with the same reading as the rest of the site.

What each one measures
- CP5 — Chainpress 5
- Combined market capitalisation of the five largest digital assets, excluding stablecoins and wrapped or liquid-staked derivatives.
- CP20 — Chainpress 20
- The same measure across the twenty largest. Broader than CP5, and the closest thing here to a read on the market as a whole.
- CP100 — Chainpress 100
- The hundred largest. Because the measure is cap-weighted, bitcoin and ether still dominate it — the extra eighty assets move it very little.
- CPMEME — Chainpress Meme 20
- The twenty largest assets in CoinGecko's meme-token category, by the same method. Category membership is CoinGecko's classification, not ours.
How they are built
Each index adds up what its constituents are collectively worth right now, divides that by what the same measure read on 2026-09-20, and multiplies by 1000. The 24-hour change is computed from each constituent’s own reported change in market capitalisation, so it is the real move of the basket rather than an average of price moves.
What is excluded, and why
Stablecoins are left out. A peg holding at 0.01% adds size without adding information, and including them would damp every reading toward zero. So are wrapped and liquid-staked derivatives: WBTC’s market capitalisation is bitcoin’s counted a second time, and stETH is ether’s.
Two limits worth knowing
- The constituents are re-selected on every reading. These track “the largest N assets” as a moving set, not a basket fixed at inception. An asset climbing into the top twenty changes what CP20 measures. That makes them a read on the size of the market rather than the performance of a portfolio anyone could have held.
- The base date is 2026-09-20. Levels therefore sit near 1000 by construction and carry no history yet. The 24-hour change is meaningful today; the level will not be until these have run for a while.
These are not benchmarks, are not investable, and are not audited. Nothing here is investment advice. Prices come from CoinGecko — see Methodology.
